Cannes International Games Festival

The International Games Festival is one of the most important event that take place in Cannes. This is a unique festival, because it includes all categories of games: mind games, parlor games, board games, video games.

Cannes Fireworks Festival

The purpose of this Fireworks Festival is to create a competition during which the participants can present complete shows: fireworks on the water from barges in the Bay of Cannes, to the strains of music with a background text, all structured around a theme. One of the most important events of the summer in Cannes, the six performances of the show are attended by some 200,000 spectators on La Croisette.

Cannes International dance festival

The International dancing festival started in 1984 and is one of the most important events in the autumn in Cannes. Every year, the programming, entrusted to Yorgos Loukos, who is also Director of the Lyon Opéra National Ballet, presents five or six world and French premieres.

Cannes Russian Art Festival

The festival of Russian art is organized by the Russian Cultural Foundation, the City of Cannes and the Festival Hall and Convention Centre, and supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture. During the 4 days of the festival, a series of exhibitions and shows take place in the Palais des Festivals. The Russian movie has its own day, the filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov President of the Russian Cultural Foundation, actively participating in the film selection.

Cannes Nutes Musicales Festival

The Musical evenings of Le Suquet take place every year in the heart of the old town of Cannes. Created on the initiative of the world-famous pianist Gabriel Tacchino, this event is one of the most important musical events in Cannes. The location of this event is the parvis in front of Notre-Dame d’Espérance church.

Cannes Pantiero Festival

Pantiero is a electro Festival that presents the latest tendencies in electro music. Located on the Riviera Terrace at the Palais des Festivals, this event, based on electro music, also features a wide range of variants: afro-beat, afro-house, electro-dub, house music, electro-pop, hip-hop, reggae, electro-jazz.

Cannes Pan-African Film Festival

The Pan-African Film Festival takes place on the Bijou Beach on the boulevard Croisette and other locations in the center of Cannes. During the five days of the festival there are presented films from the African diaspora. Every night has its own Specific typical evening like: European-African Day, creole day.

Cannes International Boats and Yacht Show

The Film Festival is rivaled with in both glamour and popularity by another event which has been held in Cannes for 33 years so far, namely, the Cannes International Boast and Yacht Show, otherwise known as the Festival International de la Plaisance. It is an annual event taking place in September in the Vieux Port of Cannes and in the Pierre Canto Port, consisting of a display of about 800 vessels giving owners and admirers the possibility to take pride in their luxurious possessions or to expand their horizon in terms of new acquisitions. It is between 8th and 13th of September that International Boast and Yacht Show will take place in 2010.

Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is undeniably the star of the eventful calendar of Cannes. It has been held each year as from 1946 at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, so it’s not an overstatement to say that it has become a tradition. As compared to other film festivals in the world, the merits of the Cannes Film Festival come down to being able to maintain, to enforce and to award certain artistic standards in the filmmaking industry. This event is not expected only in the world of film industry, but also by the lay people happening to reside in Cannes or to visit the city in May, hoping to at least catch a glimpse of the many celebrities arriving in Cannes for the event. Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival

The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival takes place each year in mid-June and it is hosted by the above mentioned Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. The festival manages to amass thousands of communities acting in the field of advertising and media, competing for the coveted Lions award with the best products they can bring forward in terms of advertising, creativity and marketing communications. It is the only event of these profile and dimensions in the world. Besides screenings and exhibitions proper, the festival implies a series of instructive manifestations, such as seminars and workshops. Ceremonies go without saying.

TFWA Tax Free World Exhibition Cannes

One of the events towering the calendar of Cannes each October is the Tax Free World Exhibition – also referred to as the Duty Free World Exhibition, or TFWA – an event gathering together thousands of participants attending the manifestations held at this exhibition. The conference, the workshops and the display as such are carried out in view of familiarizing world leading buyers, airport authorities, distributors and journalists with new products yielded by various top brands belonging to a large range of industries. It is an excellent opportunity for launching completely new products and for reaffirming the value of older ones in an atmosphere conceived for internetworking and establishing the basis for future collaborations. MIDEM Music Fair Cannes

An annual festival pegging out the calendar of Cannes in January refers to MIDEM (standing for Marché International de l’Édition Musicale). The festival consists of a series of events, such as concerts and a glamorous NRJ Music Awards festival, in view of promoting new artists. At the same time, MIDEM is also a music industry fair – and, for that matter, the largest one in the world – amassing numerous businesspeople, musicians and journalists around the world exploring and commenting on the generous offer of music products brought forwards by the exhibition. All these activities are duly organized in the welcoming Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes. The following edition (the 44th) will take place between 23rd and 26th of January, 2011.

One of the events to be held at the beginning of each year is represented by the glamorous Cannes Shopping Festival, filling out three or four days of fashion shows and gala events garnering at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès the most exquisite figures in the fashion world. New Years Eve in Cannes

Like any other city which brings up the best in it in terms of decorations and jolly spirits, on New Year’s Eve Cannes prepares itself for welcoming the year to come, each local and visitor getting ready for this event either on their own or in a more organized manner. Cannes Uniqlo T-shirt Design Competition

It was not until 2008 that Uniqlo won a significant award at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. As a result of this event, Uniqlo has been chosen to design the most inspired and adequate T-shirt concept in view of representing and popularizing the world famous Lions Festival by means of this virtually unprecedented media which is the T-shirt. Thus, the competition was to bear the name of Cannes Uniqlo T-shirt Design Competition. This yearly competition must focus on the representation of the central motive of the Advertising Festival, namely, the lion.

Jazz a Juan Festival

As an inspired getaway from Cannes, Antibes is the classiest place to be, more precisely, in the town of Juan les Pins, where a jazz festival famous in the entire Europe, plainly called Jazz a Juan, has been held each July each year as from 1960, nowadays standing out as a respected musical tradition. This festival is said to be the oldest of its kind in Europe, which is more than enough for attracting the enthusiasts of this genre. In addition, the fact that names like Ray Charles, John Coltrane or Miles Davis knew how to appreciate the value of this event is more than a visiting card for the connoisseurs. On top of all, given the fact that the festival promotes an impressive number of subgenres – ranging from Latin Jazz and Free Jazz to Jazz Rock, Electro Jazz and Gospel, just to mention a few – its popularity is increasingly high. The 50th edition of the Jazz a Juan is highly expected, so there is no reason to fail to be in Juan les Pins between 14th and 25th of July.
