It was not until 2008 that Uniqlo won a significant award at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. As a result of this event, Uniqlo has been chosen to design the most inspired and adequate T-shirt concept in view of representing and popularizing the world famous Lions Festival by means of this virtually unprecedented media which is the T-shirt. Thus, the competition was to bear the name of Cannes Uniqlo T-shirt Design Competition. This yearly competition must focus on the representation of the central motive of the Advertising Festival, namely, the lion.
